I tried to use seven very different landscape precedents. I looked at aspects of large and small scale circulation innovations while also exploring how to create mini micro climates from structural extensions.

St James Plaza / ASPECT Studios

ASPECT Studios were engaged to develop a design that assists with rejuvenating the public realm for the building, in line with the architectural refit. The landscape and building have a strong visual connection through the façade and paving treatments.

Superkilen / Topotek 1 + BIG Architects + Superflex

Superkilen is a half a mile long urban space wedging through one of the most ethnically diverse and socially challenged neighborhoods in Denmark. It has one overarching idea that it is conceived as a giant exhibition of urban best practice – a sort of collection of global found objects that come from 60 different nationalities of the people inhabiting the area surrounding it.

GEELONG LIBRARY AND HERITAGE CENTRE

The planting selection responds to the surrounding historic influences and references ideas of ‘gardens for learning, the picturesque and a beautiful ruin’. 

Hexagonal timber decking and lawn terraces provide a west-facing terrace garden which spills out into the Park with a  sun drenched café area. On Level 1 a Children’s rooftop garden provides a sensory experience through fragrance, colour and touch

The landscape design produces a “brocade,” weaving together the building and site program, and offering an oasis amid the dense, urban location. The design takes into account the city of Chengdu by paying attention to key infrastructural elements.

The Rosemont Bridge and connecting trails layer pedestrian infrastructure onto the Buffalo Bayou corridor in Houston, Texas and is a significant step in realizing the larger vision of a more accessible Houston.
